I thought my mom's car was really dying. The gearbox wouldn't shift and ever time I tried to overtake on trunk roads, it was rather dangerous, as it wouldn't shift. I had snail my way through a bunch of cars, slowly. The last place my dad serviced the Mercedes Benz C200 didn't do a good job and was expensive. I went to this place in IGB Industry Park, near Tasek, in Ipoh recommended by a member of the mybenz.org community, CCTan2281. I just thought I would try a new place, as the member claims its cheaper than the place my dad has been. So I was there that day with the mechanic, Ah Kit giving a go at the Mercedes. He notices the gearbox was jerky. He said, it could be because of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) being dead, a common problem with the 5 speed Mercedes-Benz gearbox. Another problem is that the gearbox oil has clogged the gearbox. I believe the second situation being more realistic, as my parents don't really maintain their cars! Anyways, they put on the Merc on the hoist, then helped me bleed out the ATF fluid, through this machine, which acts like a dialysis machine for diabetes patients. The mechanic found more problems. He pointed out that the old and mushy air filter has damaged the Mass Air Sensor, which costs RM580 to fix. It's an OEM item from Bosch, so yeah, I was fine with it. Total bill from a complete fix, inclusive of a broken side window sets back at RM1448. Definitely worth it, since so many problems were fixed. I was worried that I would need to fork out RM3000 for the TCU, but yeah, thanks to them, they have solved the problem, without bleeding my dad's money too much. I highly recommend people with Mercedes Benz to have their cars serviced there.
