Merdeka Special - Highlights of Kampar town, 51 years after nationhood

I've decided to do Kampar town photo shoot and cover up, by using my dad's Nikon D80 DSLR. Many of the Kamparians which I know, are definitely far away from them, maybe as far as the United States, UK or Australia. I'm sure there are those who are homesick and those who want to know what changes are like in Kampar. So here are the pictures of Kampar, beginning with the "Merdeka" (Independence day) clock tower, situated near the Kampar police station. The Catholic church is right next to it.

Then I drove into Wah Loong and took a picture of this temple and its surrounding, which I had no idea what name it is. Further on, I drove to the ex-mining pool/lake opposite of the Medan Selera (food court) and snapped some pictures of the nice hill facade. I drove on along Jalan Balai and took pictures of the local supermarket Minat and the bus station on Jalan Balai. Then, I drove to the road that intersects between Jalan Balai and Jalan Idris. Here lies the famous Yau Kee restaurant, which is famed for its "Chicken in the bread" (Min Pau Kai). I turn left and head to the end of Jalan Idris and shot this picture of the field (Padang) and ACS Kampar Secondary School behind it.

I made a U-turn, to take pictures of the local Watson convenience store, Pizza Hut and then Kam Ling Restaurant. I turned left at Jalan Tokong (Temple road), to take shots of the local temple. I turned left into Jalan Gopeng and took a picture of the CB Overhead bridge, which the road divides between ACS Primary and Secondary school. I was an ex-student for both schools.

I drove on further and took the picture of the new Wesley Church, which is situated in between Esso and Mobil station. Then I drove on further and reached the Traffic Light intersection that would lead to the new township (Taman Bandar Baru). I drove further straight towards to Tesco, which is located in the new housing area.

Inside Tesco, I took a couple of shots. It is definitely a surprise to find Sushi King inside of Tesco along with a Karaoke outlet and a food court. I drove around Tesco supermarket, near UTAR entrance, then made a U-turn and headed to the intersection that leads to Taman Kampar Jaya. I drove past SMK Kampar and headed back into Taman Bandar Baru. Here I took a picture of the main road along the new township. I drove to the Great Kampar Hotel, situated in the new township and took this picture. Then I headed towards the TAR College and then the other entrance for University TAR along the lake.

I headed down to another new housing area, Taman Bandar Baru Selatan (new township south). Then I drove into Aston Settlement, where it is situated behind ACS Kampar secondary school. I would remember my childhood, kicking aluminium cans with schoolmates, in front of the badminton court, next to the drinks stall, owned by Ling Jie (Sis' Ling). I drove out of Aston Settlement and took pictures of the wet market and the food court.

Then, I passed by Target supermarket and the bus station again, snapping some pictures. I drove pass the Japanese Garden (Taman Muhibbah) and drove towards the train station. You could see the new train station being erected next to the old one. Then I headed back to Jalan Gopeng and drove up Batu Berangkai. I took some pictures of there and finally it ends my 1 1/2 hours journey within town, covering almost ever inch of Kampar. Here are the pictures of the Jeep Wrangler, that assisted me in the taking of these pictures. I'm done covering Kampar town and now I'm off to have my Merdeka holidays.
