Kamparboy Challenge : To find a set of tyres under RM1000
After a long wait, I finally decided that the Toyo Proxes T1-R is getting a bit worn off. Time for a replacement! I didn't opted for expensive Ultra-High performance tyres, since my dad was still injured from his previous injuries. He broke his ligament during a badminton match. So I thought RM1000 would be a good budget for 16 inch tyres, since my mom's Mercedes-Benz C200 W202 cost RM880 for 4 pieces of Bridgestone Turanza ER60's (205/65/r15).
So I decided to call up various places and start googling. I called up Mr. Tan, owner of Jooi Seng tyres, to quote for prices of various tyres. It seems the Michelin Pilot Preceda has gone up price from RM320 to RM400 for 205/45/r16, which was not worth it. I tried to look for BFGoodrich G-sport, but it was hard to get. So he told me he had Falken Ziex'es for sale for RM250 per piece, which equals RM1000. That included balancing, alignment and also a free gift (Michelin Safety pack, which consists of jump-start cables, safety reflective vest, first aid kit and a torchlight)
I did called up Quicksave at USJ7. They primarily deal with Good year tyres. I wanted to get the Goodyear Eagle F1's but they cost RM299 a piece. I was quoted for RM249 for a piece of Yokohama A.drive R1. I asked my Pro-hatch friend, Calvin, it seems his tyre wear isn't really good. So I decided to buy the Falkens, since I know the owner of the shop and he had an outlet in Glenmarie. It was a pretty good price for what I got. I have yet to try on the tyres, but I will certainly do, once the tyres are properly run in.
